Lake Toho Bass Fishing has been great. Wild shiners and steel shad have been catching largemouth bass at a steady pace.

Bass fishing in Florida is always a great way to spend some time relaxing on the water with the family. In this video Bob was having a blast catching bass on Lake Toho using not only live bait but also SteelShad. The steelshad have been an awesome lure for us for catching not only bass but also some slab sized crappie. This is probably one of the easiest lures to use, just simply pulling it out of the package and tying it on and your good to go. Bob was tossing this lure close to hydrilla and working it along the outside edge of the weed beds and was having a blast with some steady bass fishing action.

Lake Toho bass fishing over the past few months has been pretty steady. Bass have been relating heavily to hydrilla and the Kissimmee grass with a lot of the action coming on the north end of the lake. This area has held some of the best looking and healthy hydrilla which not only helps keep the water cleaner, but will also hold a lot of bait fish, which in turn will attract the bass.

When your fishing these areas, one of the most productive baits, is of course the wild shiner. Many people will prefer to use the live bait as at times it will make catching those trophy bass easier. Anglers who come for those trophy bass will not always want to use live bait though, and we will give them the options and inform them as to the best chance at catching not only some good numbers, but size as well. Just a few of the hot baits have been the senko type baits, zoom flukes, speed craws and rattle trap type baits.

Lake Toho Bass Fishing

The bass fishing on Lake Toho has been great for us the past week. Wild shiners, artificial plastics and steel shad have been producing not only some good numbers, but some size as well.

We have been launching out of the main ramp and making the long run to the south end of the lake.

Some good largemouth action had been coming from Friars Cove.
Working stickups and reeds have been a big key to catching some quality bass. Craws and Gitem KO’s have been the main producers as far as the plastics go. Steel Shad and spinner baits have also been very big, especially the steel shad in the open water areas that we have hit. There has been some steady schooling action on the southern end of Lake Toho, which has kept us going back for.

West side of the lake has also been a good area for us, slowly swimming either flukes or flappin shads thru the scattered grasses have produced some good strikes, another good bet was working a one ounce spinner bait thru the reeds and thinned out grasses. For the most part, the bite has been a pretty aggressive hit.

Lake Toho Bass Fishing. Bobs Birthday and this is just one of the bass he caught. Using wild shiners, Bobs first cast of the day landed this nice largemouth bass for him.

Lake Toho Bass fishing is always a blast, especially with live wild shiners. This day had started out in an area very close to the main ramp, as we had a very thick fog to start the day. This was the first time ever for Bob on Lake Toho so Bob and my son Corey wanted to use wild shiners, this way Bob would have the best chance at some good numbers of bass on his Birthday.

The area we started in was an area that had a lot of hydrilla just below the surface and was in scattered patches, allowing me to slow troll the live bait weaving them thru the brakes in the hydrilla. One thing is for sure, it does not matter if its overcast or hot, sunny or foggy, you can usually find bass around hydrilla as bait fish will hide in the hydrilla for cover from the much fast moving largemouth bass.

Today the bass were definitely in a feeding mode, as Bob and Corey caught a bunch of Lake Toho bass and had a blast doing. Nothing makes a birthday better than a nice relaxing day out on the waters of Central Florida catching bass.

Lake Toho as well as several other lakes in the area are with 20 minutes of all three major theme parks here in Florida. Some of the best Disney area bass fishing is on Lake Toho as well as the Butler Chain of Lakes, both of which can not only produce some good numbers of bass, but some great size as well.

Bass Fishing Forecast for June

June is the start of our heat, and most people think the bass fishing season is over. This is far from the truth. Early morning action is still very good. Live wild shiners will still get good numbers of bass and some scattered size to five pounds. As the temperatures warm up during the day, the bite will get more scattered, but with targeted casting you can still catch largemouth bass during the heat of the day.

Lake Toho bass fishing is world famous for catching trophy bass, even during the summer months. This is where flipping and pitching will come in handy. Your focus in the heat of the day will turn to focusing on grass beds and floating mats, either punching thru or pitching your baits into “potholes” to target trophy bass. Idea baits are creature baits and tube baits.

Open water areas, with deeper waters holding submerged hydrilla will also be good areas to produce bass. These areas you can slow roll spinner baits, use shallow running crank baits and work ten inch worms to keep the action steady.

Bass Fishing Forecast for March

March is always a good month in Florida for Trophy Bass. Not only can you catch them on wild shiners, but you can also catch them on top water lures. Buzzbaits and toads will draw some vicious strikes and some fun action on the waters of Lake Toho and the entire Kissimmee Chain.

Rattle Traps, spinner baits and crank baits will make for some very exciting action on Orlando area lakes, catching bass on a regular basis throughout the day. Lizards, worms and senko type baits will also produce some quality bass and this is also the time of year when our cold fronts are reduced to cool fronts. Largemouth bass will be once again schooling up and feeding heavily on natural lake forage like shad and wild shiners, which also makes them an easy target for us to catch.

Lake Toho bass fishing is one of our main focuses, with such a wide range of cover to fish, from lily pads to hydrilla beds, to floating mats in mid lake, there is always some type of action going on.

Bass Fishing Forecast for February

February is typically a very good month for trophy bass fishing on Lake Toho and many of the Orlando lakes. Cold fronts coming thru can keep the air temperatures much cooler, so of course dressing in layers is highly recommended for this time of year. A lot of our focus is on World Famous Lake Toho, as this body of water is probably your best option at catching that trophy bass.

Your options for catching bass out here are wide depending on the weather. If we get hit by a cold front, we will consider having a dozen or two of wild shiners on the boat to slow troll behind the boat while we work spawning areas with artificial lures.
Your options for lures will range from ten inch worms to creature baits like craws.

We will target bass beds, but keep in mind that when a bass is caught from a bed we will take a picture and weight fast, and carefully release back into the water gently so we don’t harm her. Many times we have witnessed her go back to her bed, so if done properly she will not be stressed out and abort her eggs as many claim they do. We are also strictly catch and release with all bass, replicas of your catch are usually one dollar per inch more than a skin mount and will last forever.
