Collegiate Anglers Have Opportunity to Collect Berkley Conservation Institute Grants

San Antonio, Texas – Collegiate anglers competing in the 2010 BoatU.S. Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship will have the opportunity to win prizes for presenting their fishing conservation ideas. The Berkley Conservation Institute (BCI) will award the top 3 anglers whose presentations are submitted by May 21, 2010. Winners will be determined by a panel of judges who are not known by anyone outside of those 5 individuals.

Anglers are encouraged to be creative with their presentations (Videos, Power Point, etc.). In addition to the quality of the presentation, the judges will consider how well the anglers perform; as well as how they carry themselves and promote fishing during the championship event. The awards presentation will take place immediately following the final day weigh in.

In addition to the contest awards, all eligible collegiate anglers submitting entries will be interviewed by one of the many camera teams on hand to capture the action during the championship event for airing on the television series. Also, every angler submitting a presentation will be awarded a Berkley 15# tournament scale with valued at $34.99.

“Berkley has partnered with the BoatU.S. Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship for 3 years and it has become one of the programs that I am most proud of,” stated Andrew Marks, Sr. Marketing Manager for Berkley. “This award requires the collegiate anglers to utilize all their talents including creativity, skills developed as a result of their college education, business acumen to handle on camera interviews, and their overall fishing skills.”

The Berkley Conservation Institute was developed to support conservation and angler recruitment efforts. BCI cooperates with fishing groups, conservation organizations, customers and other industry partners to protect our fishable waters. Berkley also collaborates to enhance populations of important sport fish and introduce the next generation to the delight of angling while teaching them to lead the fight for conservation.

Extensive coverage of the championship event will be nationally televised on the Versus network from August -October 2010. The television series will also feature coverage of the Stephen F Austin Bucketmouth Bass Tournament, Arkansas Tech University Invitational, Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series Championship and the Collegiate Bass Fishing Open.
