This is Captain Jason Young with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report. The Lake levels are still starting to slow down they’re rising slow now. The Largemouth Bass are still coming in and they’re starting to feed up to get ready for the spawn, they’ll be here before you know it. In the mornings the outside weed lines are producing great numbers and during the day the bite slows down so we’ve been moving inside and working our flipping sticks on the Lake. When the bite starts to slow down we’re finding our best bites in the bull rushes and buggy whips. Look for two feet of water with adding the use of a Bass Assassins real warm to go after the big bite on Lake O. This is Captain Jason Young with Tight Lines.
Hello, this is Captain Jason Young with your Lake Okeechobee fishing report August 22 2014,
Today I fished the North end of Lake Okeechobee, with Patrick and Taylor from the St Louis Missouri area. There’s still a strong morning bite on the outside weed edges, we took full advantage of that till about (9:00am) nine o-clock this morning. Then we moved deeper in to the weeds with slower baits. Once that slow down on us, we decided to go and use some shiners for a little while, and the shiner bite was really strong today.
Caught a lot of good quality fish today and later in the afternoon probably around noon or a little after noon we went and decided to go flipping for a couple of hours. And why the flipping bite was a little slow, which is typical we did manage to get a few quality bites in the last little bit of the day as well. So, all in all it was a great day. Caught a lot of fish, a lot of good quality fish.
Our air temps were in the mid (90’s) nineties but had a genital breeze to keep us comfortable and the water temps were floating right in the mid (80’s) eighties.
Tell next time, this is Captain Jason Young. Wishing you tight lines!
What a great day on the lake with Ted, Katie and Karren with big numbers and some Okeechobee Hogs! Katie the youngest at 11 years old, caught the biggest fish of the day, weighing in at 7lb and a second one at 6lb. Ted and Karren did a great job as well, they caught some good ones to go with it. Great folks, and what great way to spend some family time in the summer! Till next time tight lines and good fishing…. From Staff Writer
